At the end of 2019, president Sebastián Piñera’s government tried to raise the subway’s ticket price. Chilean citizens took the streets to protest against this action and against the deep social inequality in the country. Piñera’s government responded to protest with police brutality, leaving behind hundreds of wounded civilians, many of which  partially or totally lost their vision due to lead pellet impacts.
